A message from the EAP Director on COVID-19

March 11, 2020

Dear EAP student community,

As you know, President LeBlanc has indicated that in light of the potential spread of the COVID-19 virus, GW has decided to move to online instruction for at least a few weeks following spring break. Your EAP professors are preparing to teach online and will update you about changes and important announcements. Please be sure to check your GW email and Blackboard regularly during this period. If you don't have access to the Internet or have other technology limitations, or if you need a special learning accommodation, please let your professor know as soon as possible. With your help, I feel confident we can manage this transition to online learning smoothly.

GW continues to offer regular updates regarding COVID-19, and I also want you to know that the EAP program is here to support you during this this time. I know it is unsettling to be in another country during a global health crisis and that many of you are worried about your health and the health of your loved ones. In addition, many GW students who live on campus will be traveling to their hometowns for spring break and remaining there while doing their coursework online. I know this is not possible for most international students, but rest assured that campus will be operational and you can apply to stay in the residence halls. If there is anything EAP can do to help you navigate this confusing situation, don't hesitate to contact me ([email protected]) or our administrative office ([email protected]).

Finally, I want to reiterate how much the GW community welcomes and values its international students. We in the EAP program feel privileged to work with such an amazing group of globally diverse students and look forward to continuing to teach you.

With warm regards,
Megan Siczek
Director of EAP
