Professor Judith Ferguson is a career English teacher whose work has evenly divided between her teaching native speakers/writers and EFL learners both in the States and abroad. She taught for ten years in Japan at assorted schools and universities, including Waseda University and Temple University ( Tokyo ), as well as  Shooin University and Ashiya University (Kobe). Stateside she  taught at Virginia Tech, Louisiana State University ( Baton Rouge ) and George Mason University. She holds two undergraduate degrees, one in English from Old Dominion University ( Norfolk ,Virginia ), and one in biology from The Mary Washington College of the University of Virginia. Her MA in English is from Virginia Tech.  Her favorite instructional model is that of active learning. She has incorporated ethnographies, simulations and oral histories in her curricula. This year, 2014, is her fourth year at GWU.
